Painted Dogs Water Enrichment
Gnawing on bones is wonderful enrichment and helps keep canine teeth clean. Our animal care staff have found a great way to provide the African painted dogs with an additional challenge by covering them and putting them in the water. The dogs must work together to uncover the bones. Working together to obtain food not only strengthens pack bonds, it mimics how these animals would behave in the wild. The water provides an extra layer of interest and also helps cool them down on hot days.
