#Jubbal Raj mahal #shorts
The Jubbal Raj Mahal (Jubbal Palace) is a magnificent architectural marvel in Himachal Pradesh, located roughly 90 km from Shimla at an elevation of about 7,000 feet. Belonging to the Rathore clan, the royal family's roots trace back to the 12th century, though the present palace is a blend of Pahari and European design.
Key History and Architecture
Origins: The royal seat of the Jubbal state was initially established in the 12th century, but frequently shifted due to natural disasters and conflicts.
The Sheesh Mahal: Raja Sir Bhagat Chandra initiated the construction of the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) in 1911 and finished it in 1918. It featured large framed mirrors and utilized no iron nails, instead relying on tightly pegged wood and stone that gave it high earthquake resistance.
The Main Palace: The current palace was built in 1935 by his son, Raja Digvijai Chandra. Designed by a French artist, it flawlessly blends traditional wooden Pahari architecture with classic European aesthetics.
Design Features: The entrance opens into a central courtyard with a pagoda-style temple constructed using liquid lead. The property is also famously home to a rare Chinar tree, which is otherwise atypical for the region.
