From “too small to play” to record-breaking rugby points scorer – Ghislaine Landry
Rugby Sevens is a sport like no other. It's the most diverse, exciting and unexpected sport on the planet. It's players, coaches and fans have unique stories – of dedication, of hardship and of sheer ambition – that are unmatched in any other sport. In the world’s most surprising sport we tell those stories.
5’3” Ghislaine Landry was told that she was too small to make it as an international rugby player. Even when, after years of hard work, she made it to the Rugby Canada programme, she spent four years not able to get a game. Training on her own. Never giving up on her dream.
Through sheer determination she made it into the Rugby Canada team and then to the very top of the sport. The highest scoring player in women’s sevens history. The first to 1000 points. Olympic medallist and Pan-American Games gold medallist.
Size isn’t everything.
