Make Tasty Black Beans in an Instant Pot Pressure Cooker
Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions:
1. Wash the Beans:
Give those black beans a good wash to get rid of any dirt or debris. Clean beans make for a better meal!
2. Soak the Beans:
Cover them with about 2 inches of water.
3. Prepare the Pressure Cooker:
- Drop the beans into the pressure cooker.
- Check that lid! Make sure the seal is in place and the vent pipe nozzle is clear.
- Ensure that light is coming through the vent pipe.
4. Seal the Cooker:
Lock on that lid securely. Turn the nozzle to the ceiling position to trap the pressure in the pot.
5. Set the Cook Time:
- Press the pressure cook button.
- Use the plus key to set the cook time to 1 hour.
- Press the keep warm button and turn that off.
6. Cooking Tips:
- Keep an eye on that metal rod; it goes up when the cooker fills with steam. Sometimes steam comes out of it, so use the end of a spoon to give it a tap if needed. The rod will fit right back into place.
7. After Cooking:
- After an hour and a half, the beans are cooked, and the pressure has gone down. Turn the nozzle to venting to let any extra steam out of the pot.
- Carefully remove the lid.
8. Drain the Beans:
Pour off all that "fart water" (you know what I mean!), but leave just a little bit behind to make it easy to stir the beans.
9. Season the Beans:
Throw in all your favorite spices. The full recipe is on JilKeeper.com - just look up "Black Beans You Eat Every Day." You can download it from there, or if you're Max or Maggie, just check my cookbook binder.
10. Serve and Enjoy:
Pour the beans into your favorite dish, and you're ready to eat. These beans are perfect for any meal, whether you're serving friends or just need something quick to eat every day.
