Sea King Chrysler Outboard Cooling Failure Impeller Pump - How to Clean and Install

This video is on how to inspect and clean up the impeller housing, impeller plate and impeller. When we originally got this Chrysler Sea King started, it started to overheat. I was able to clean up the impeller pump housing and plate and use a gasket sealer to put it all together again. The results are great and the engine now runs at around 140 degrees F. This engine does not have a traditional tell tale and doesn't "pee". It does have an exhaust port where the heated water comes out of in lieu of a tell tale.

I'm running a 24:1 mix on this for right now. I did that because of the age and being unsure of the proper mix for it. I've done more research and found that this engine can run 50:1 so will be transitioning to that in the future.

One interesting aspect to these old Sea King motors is that you may think that parts are difficult to get. In some cases that is true. But what I have found is that this same engine, originally manufactured by Chrysler for Montgomery Ward, was also made under a number of other labels. Chrysler, Mercury, Force and Sears Game Fisher all had basically the same motor. Many parts are interchangeable!
