Post-tropical storm Teddy moves into Atlantic Canada, warnings of storm surge

Thousands are without power across Nova Scotia as schools were closed Wednesday for all students and school employees in the province due to the impact of post-tropical storm Teddy, which made landfall in the morning.

Strong winds and torrential rains are expected throughout the day and warnings of storm surges along the eastern shore.

According to the Canadian Hurricane Centre, Teddy will weaken as it travels along the coast across the Gulf of St. Lawrence toward northern Newfoundland, where it will arrive by Wednesday night.

Global News reporter Shelley Steeves gives more information on what's in store as post-tropical storm Teddy moves through parts of Atlantic Canada.
