It is the 96th chapter of the Qur'an. It is composed of 19 verses. It is sometimes also known as Sūrat Iqrā. Chapter 96 is traditionally believed to have been Muhammad's(peace and blessings be upon him) first revelation.
These five verses of Surah Alaq are the first Divine revelation to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while he was meditating in Cave Hira in the month of Ramadan. This revelation gave the cognizance of Allah that He is the Creator of everything that exists
