Ukraine’s Frontline Doctors Can’t Wait
Friends,
Yesterday, Olga Gorman and I visited City Hospital No. 12 in Kyiv and spent time with Dr. Oleksandr Kosyakov, head of the traumatology department — and a proud member of Rotary Club Kyiv. It was a moving reminder of just how much strength, skill, and sacrifice it takes to heal a country at war.
In 2022, we delivered surgical drills to this very hospital. These tools are used four days a week, every single week. But because they must withstand extreme sterilization temperatures — and work under the most intense, often bloody conditions — they break down fast. Replacements are expensive. Too expensive for a system under daily siege.
And yet, these doctors keep showing up. Keep performing complex surgeries. Keep saving lives.
We stood shoulder to shoulder with members of Kyiv’s Rotary Clubs and PDG Serhiy Zavadskyi. Our shared mission is clear: support those who never stop serving.
