Affordable. For Everyone. Yale awards all financial aid on the basis of financial need, with the goal of making a Yale education affordable to all students and families. Students who qualify for a Yale financial aid award receive a need-based Yale Scholarship that can vary from a few thousand dollars to over $60,000 per year. Financial aid is based on the total cost of attendance, which includes tuition, room and board, books and personal expenses. Families whose total gross income is less than $65,000 (with typical assets) are not expected to make a contribution towards their child’s Yale education. Hundreds of Yale undergraduate families have an Expected Family Contribution of $0.
