Nic Hunter, mayor of Lake Charles, Louisiana, tells TODAY that in addition to the toppled trees and damage he expected in the wake of Hurricane Laura, “I saw buildings torn apart.” He commends local law enforcement and National Guard for “working like a well-oiled machine.” He predicts it may be weeks before power and water are fully restored but vows, “We will rebuild.”
