Could These Road Wheels Be The End Of Carbon Fibre?! | May Tech Round-Up
May has seen a tidal wave of new road bike cycling tech, and we've covered all the hottest releases in this video. First up, we take at the new wheels from Chris King. They're called the ARD 44's, and they're made of a recyclable version of carbon fibre, named FusionFibre. This material can be down cycled into other products, like, tyre levers. The future for this tech is very interesting, but it will certainly depend on whether the appetite exists from consumers to buy into the vision.
Kask has officially released a new road helmet, which comes in at the highest price we've ever seen for a road helmet. There are two main pieces of tech that have been debuted on this lid, that being the brand's Fluid Carbon 12 material, which creates a stronger casing for the helmet. The stronger casing means that the amount of EPS can be reduced to increase ventilation. The second new headline feature are the new Multipod pads which replace the standard foam pads we commonly see.
We also have two new sets of tyres from Pirelli and Specialized. Both are targetting the endurance race market and promise all year round speed. That wasn't the only release from Specialized, as they also released the Romin EVO Pro With Mirror saddle. It's certain to be a popular new addition for MTB'er and gravel riders. A new, more affordable version of the Tarmac SL7 has also been dropped, as it's now available in a 105 Di2 build. The American brand also dropped a matching specced Aethos to match.
