Debugging 5G networks becomes significantly easier when engineers can see what is happening directly from the UE (mobile) side. In this live webinar, Nitin Jain demonstrates how the Mobisync 5G COTS UE Logging Tool helps debug, validate, analyze, and optimize 5G SA networks using real-time mobile-side protocol logs and KPIs.

The session starts with an introduction to Make My Technology (MMT), their private 5G ecosystem, SDR-based deployment setup, and Center of Excellence initiatives focused on 5G/6G research, education, and industry collaboration. MMT also showcases its end-to-end 5G lab offerings including 5G SA Core, gNB, test bench infrastructure, private SIM support, and multi-device testing capabilities.

The technical webinar then focuses on practical 5G debugging using the Mobisync 5G Logger — a lightweight and developer-friendly UE-side logging tool designed for Qualcomm-based commercial smartphones. The tool enables live collection and decoding of detailed 5G protocol logs including:

• RRC
• NAS
• MAC
• RLC
• PDCP
• Layer-1 / PHY measurements

along with live KPIs such as:

• RSRP
• RSRQ
• SNR
• DL/UL Throughput
• CQI
• BLER
• MCS
• Scheduling and retransmission information

The webinar explains why UE-side visibility is extremely important while debugging 5G networks. Unlike network-side logs, mobile-side logs provide a “golden reference” view of actual UE behavior, helping engineers quickly identify whether problems originate from RF conditions, protocol mismatches, scheduler behavior, configuration issues, SIM/core problems, or software bugs.

Topics covered in the webinar include:

• 5G SA network bring-up and attach debugging
• Cell search, synchronization, and SIB decoding
• Registration and authentication flow analysis
• Diagnosing attach failures and intermittent connectivity
• RF issues vs software/protocol issues
• Throughput optimization using MAC/RLC insights
• CQI reporting and scheduler behavior
• Mobility debugging including handover and Radio Link Failure (RLF) scenarios
• RRC Reconfiguration and Re-establishment analysis
• Live Wireshark-based protocol analysis
• UE-side visibility for OpenAirInterface (OAI) / open-source 5G labs
• Learning 5G signaling using real commercial smartphones

The webinar also includes a complete live demonstration using:

• USRP B210 SDR
• Open-source 5G SA RAN + Core Network
• N78 band deployment
• Test SIM and commercial Qualcomm-based UE
• Dockerized Core Network setup
• Real-time logging and filtering using Wireshark

During the live demo, viewers can observe the complete 5G connection procedure including:
• Cell detection
• Random access procedure
• RRC setup
• Authentication
• Registration
• PDU session establishment
• Measurement reporting
• MAC scheduling and DCI messages

A practical mobility debugging example is also demonstrated using handover logs and RRC Reconfiguration messages to validate Xn/X2 mobility behavior between neighboring cells.

The webinar further discusses how Mobisync can help:
• 5G researchers and students
• Open-source 5G developers
• Telecom engineers
• SDR/PHY/MAC developers
• RAN optimization teams
• Educational institutions and labs

Mobisync can be used for:
• 5G protocol learning
• Network bring-up and troubleshooting
• RF and throughput analysis
• Feature validation and mobility testing
• Open-source 5G experimentation
• Commercial 5G SA analysis

The session also covers practical setup requirements for open-source 5G experimentation and explains how UE-side logging can even be performed on commercial networks using supported devices and SIMs.
