Stress fracture lumbar spine in young athletes
In young athletes, stress fractures of the lumbar spine often involve the pedicles (part of the posterior processes behind the vertebral bodies). These bone injuries occur with high torque/stress on the lumbar spine in athletes such as rowers, football players, and gymnasts. The injuries usually heal well with conservative treatment.
