How to make a simple powder horn | DIY blackpowder accoutrements
➽ ➽ Support the channel - nmlra.org/join ➽ ➽
Starting with a raw cow horn, we start by "cleaning" the horn by using rough rasps and files to remove the upper layers of the horn. next we will drill through the tip of the horn to create a spout before moving onto creating a plug to seal the end of our horn. From there, we start shaping the neck and tip of the horn.
In part 2 of this basic powder horn construction series, we head to the blacksmith shop to forge a "staple" to hook our horn to our hunting pouch, pin our plug to the horn, and create a plug for our horn pouch.
