The hull design of Aquila power catamarans is naturally more fuel efficient and stable than comparable mono-hulls of similar size. This allows Aquila owners and their guest to enjoy a more comfortable ride and use less horsepower across the entire range of desired speeds. Recently, by adding fixed foils between the Aquila 36’s twin hulls, Aquila has achieved even greater fuel economy, improved ride performance, enhanced handling characteristics and boosted the models top end.

Aquila approached the marine architectural firm Morrelli & Melvin who have demonstrated a fantastic track record of designing creative, sound, safe, energy efficient, fun and fast multihulls. This includes the NACRA 17 which has been designated to be the next Olympic multihull. Pete Melvin and Gino Morrelli applied their significant experience to develop Aquila’s fixed foils system. The system provides up to 30% savings on fuel consumption at a fixed speed. The Aquila foil system is passive and does not require any specific knowledge or training for any operator to handle. Best of all, the savings on fuel alone can cover the purchase cost of the foil system within a few months of operation. In addition, because the boat rides higher out of the water, the foils also improve the overall comfort and experience for those onboard. The Aquila fixed foil system can be retrofitted on existing Aquila 36 models so current owners can improve the performance and operating comfort of their already fuel efficient and comfortable catamarans.
