2015-10-27 Mega OIS Video Test (Video clips recorded while walking & standing still)

A Mega OIS video test using the Panasonic 14-140mm lens and a Panasonic GX7. This one compares two sequences of standing still and walking. Other clips were standing still and trying to keep the camera steady. Color corrected in DaVinci Resolve 12.

My conclusion: Mega OIS definitely helps but the videos are still very shaky when walking. Perhaps walking slower, more steady & focused with good techniques will help. But I don't think the OIS system can ever match a gimbal/steadicam. For still clips with good technique, I think you can get usable results. I'd love to get my hands on an Olympus OM-D EM5 Mark II to test out their IBIS system or a DJI Osmo. But my feelings are that the Osmo even in 4K won't match the 1080p details in an m43 camera like a GH3/GX7 and definitely not the new 4K capable m43 cameras.
