VW Golf MK7 (5G) retrofitting double USB charger for back row
Installing additional two USB ports for device charging in Volkswagen #GolfMK7. 5V power outlets for the passengers in rear seats will help to keep devices like phones and tablets charged at all time. To upgrade your original rear air vent panel you will need to disassemble few elements in your cars dashboard and center console.
ℹ️ When working with car interior parts, it's a good idea to use prying tools made from plastic instead of metal ones. Thanks to that you will less likely damage your cars interior when doing this #retrofit.
1. Remove HVAC control trim.
2. Remove two T20 torx screws.
3. Remove center console side trims.
4. Undo gear stick trim.
5. Lift front cubby (two clips) and disconnect AUX and USB ports.
6. Remove two T20 torx screw.
7. Lift the center console cubby with center console buttons. Disconnect wiring from parking assist buttons, Start/Stop button, electronic parking brake, 12V power outlet.
8. Pull the rear air vent panel.
9. Connect wiring to the 12V power outlet connector.
10. Guide the cable under the armrest.
11. Connect the cable to the new rear air vent panel.
12. Assemble parts back together.

ℹ️ These two USB ports are not connected to the infotainment system. You can not use them for media playback on your Composition or Discover system.
