Finishing Drywall Around A Fiberglass Shower Surround

Today I will show you how to finish the gap between your drywall and your shower or tub surround. We will use a Tear Away L-Bead which will allow us to put drywall compound right up against the surround while leaving a perfect edge to receive caulking. The only thing left to your imagination is the paint.

One note to make... our whole bathroom has 1/2 inch drywall but if we used 1/2 inch against the surround, it would sit higher than the existing drywall, so we install 1x4 strapping to the cement wall behind and used 1/4 inch drywall and it matched up perfectly flush.
