RailsConf Rewind: Discussing Rails, monoliths, cloud hosting, community & more with Kyle d'Oliveira

We had the pleasure of interviewing Kyle d'Oliveira, who works on the framework team at Aha, a company providing road mapping software for product management. With over 15 years of experience working with Rails, Kyle shared his insights on the Rails community, monoliths vs. microservices, and more.

Kyle loves how easy it is to get going with Rails and the ease of expressing things with Ruby. He believes that the magic behind Rails can be a bit challenging at times but appreciates the support from the community.

Regarding monoliths and microservices, Kyle believes both have their place, depending on scalability and other requirements. When it comes to hosting, Kyle recommends using the cloud, unless there's a specific use case that requires otherwise.

Kyle is interested in exploring technologies like Kafka and background services and recommends attending networking events and conferences to accelerate your career and learn new things.
