Flowers in the Snow - A Sampler of Hungarian Embroidery

"Flowers in the Snow" presents a sampling of the rich tradition of embroidery and needlework unique to the various regions of historic Hungary. The history and examples of the many intricate and beautiful styles of Hungarian needlework are presented by artists Sister M. Edith Nemeth SDR, Professional Artist and Director of the Penn View Art Center in Elizabeth, PA, and Elizabeth Madzsar and Clara Thurner, both expert needlework hobbyists from Cleveland, OH.
Narrated by Andrea Szabolcs and with the participation of Kristen Slattery and the members of the Cleveland Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble, and with John Alexander as Technical Director, Maria Friedrich as Project Manager, and Otto Friedrich as Technical Advisor.
The Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society created this video as part of its on-going mission to preserve and disseminate Hungarian culture.

The project was partially funded by The Ohio Arts Council in 1996 as the city of Cleveland was celebrating its Bicentennial and Hungary was commemorating its Millicentennial.
