Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles (鬼滅の刃 ヒノカミ血風譚) is a 2021 fighting action-adventure game developed by CyberConnect2, published by Aniplex in Japan and globally by Sega. Based on the 2019 anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge's manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the game was released on October 15, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch version following on June 9, 2022, in Japan and the next day worldwide. The game features two main modes: Solo Play Mode, where players follow Tanjiro Kamado's story from the first season of the anime and the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is murdered by a demon and his sister Nezuko is turned into a demon, told through cutscenes, exploration, and boss battles, and Versus Mode, a third-person 3D arena fighting mode where players form teams of two from a roster of 31 characters and battle CPU opponents or other players online and locally. Following its release, the game received three free post-launch updates adding new playable characters including the first playable antagonists, Akaza and Rui, alongside paid DLC adding seven characters from the Entertainment District Arc. The Hinokami Chronicles received mixed or average reviews from critics, was the bestselling retail game during its first week in Japan, and was nominated for Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2021. A sequel, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2, co-developed by CyberConnect2 and Arc System Works, was released on August 5, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, with story content based on the second, third, and fourth seasons of the anime and 40 playable characters.
