Cathodic Protection Module
🚨 Collecting cathodic protection surveys is not integrity management. Integrating them, aligning them, and turning them into technical decisions is.
Keeping CIS, DCVG, ACVG, PCM, Pipe-to-Soil Potential at Test Points, and Soil Resistivity data in separate files makes it difficult to understand the real condition of the pipeline, validate CP continuity, and prioritize critical areas with technical confidence.
At Ancor, we continue expanding the capabilities of our Pipeline Integrity Management Software, and today we are introducing the Cathodic Protection module, developed to centralize CP surveys and transform large volumes of data into an integrated, traceable, and easy-to-analyze technical view.
The module organizes surveys by pipeline and by year, allowing users to manage multiple historical records within a single environment and review the information through three complementary levels: data detail, executive summary, and aligned charts.
One of its strongest differentiators is intelligent data alignment. The system takes the available surveys, defines a common longitudinal reference, and aligns all measurements along the same distance axis. This allows users to reliably correlate readings, indications, coating condition, and cathodic protection system performance across the pipeline.
Once the data is aligned, the module generates an automatic Summary that consolidates results, KPIs, tables, and charts for each inspection type. This makes it possible to quickly identify Protected and Unprotected areas in CIS and Test Points, or visualize severity and condition ranges in DCVG, ACVG, PCM, and Soil Resistivity using defined technical criteria.
For PCM, the software does more than display the original table. It also performs automatic derived calculations, including distance from the transmitter, current variation between readings, linear attenuation, and attenuation percentage. When available, the workflow also integrates Depth of Cover, strengthening the combined analysis of electrical behavior and geometric conditions.
The Alignment Charts tab turns that information into an integrated longitudinal pipeline view. From there, users can segment the pipeline, select a specific section, enable or disable layers of interest, and generate comparable charts for CP surveys, external corrosion, DOC, and other relevant variables, all referenced to the same segment.
In addition, the classification used in the Summary can be adapted to each company’s technical policy, allowing severity criteria to be configured according to the client’s internal protocols.
The result is a tool that does far more than store files. It integrates surveys, aligns data, classifies conditions, calculates relevant indicators, and turns information into a solid basis for prioritizing critical areas, validating CP continuity, and making technically supported decisions.
