Monte Santa Maria Tiberina in Umbria, 680m above sea level, is the most amazing village perched on top of a hill in the Upper Tiber Valley. The opening shot of the castle (Castello Bourbon) was once owned by Marquis Bourbon del Monte Santa Maria and the family was one of the most important aristocratic families of the Medici era. It is only a short walk away from the property. The vista is outstanding with views of Tuscany, Umbria and Marche.

There's a great restaurant in the village serving typical Umbria cuisine. Truffles, porcini mushrooms and chestnuts are all found locally.
