Why is that porch ceiling blue 🤷🏻‍♀️

While on vacation in Charleston I wanted to stop, make a video and share some history of the blue porch ceilings.
This is a tradition of the Gullahs thought to keep evil spirits out of a home 🏡
It’s also thought to keep wasps and other flying insects from nesting. The color is a light shade of blue green called Haint Blue.
Next time you see this around town or the South you’ll now where it’s from and a little history to share.
