On December 20, 2019 - an old 50s Les Paul Showed up on Reverb that I will never forget. It was an old, beat-up 1955 Gibson Les Paul All Gold that had it's finish striped off on all except for the back of the headstock. However, the maple top underneath was quite exquisite... but only on one side. That's right - half CRAZY FLAMED and half rather plain...

The only thing that stopped me from buying this guitar at the 14k price point for a full review and demo was the previous headstock repair. I could live with the old Bigsby holes though.

What a cool guitar. The 4 sins were striped off finish, Bigsby holes, headstock repair and reamed for Grovers. All very detrimental to the value of a vintage Gibson.
