The Starfleet workhorse in the late 23rd and 24th centuries, the Excelsior class starship. The Federation designed this to house the Transwarp project of 2285 but eventually it found its place as the new frontline exploration, patrol and diplomatic vessel of the UFP and a well deserved position.
