Lumus MicroLED – How geometric waveguides work Ch 3

In Chapter 3 of Lumus' MicroLED series, the video explains how geometric waveguides are used to guide and expand light within AR (augmented reality) displays. Using a waveguide structure—composed of multiple internal reflectors —the video shows how light is injected at one end and "steered" through controlled internal reflections.

The animations show how the image from the MicroLED projector enters the waveguide, bounces through a series of microstructures and is ultimately extracted toward the eye, creating a floating virtual image.

The key innovation highlighted is how geometric control allows Lumus to maintain image fidelity, brightness, and color accuracy while keeping the optics thin and lightweight—ideal for wearable devices.
