Nassarius Snail*

*I've since learned (via comments here) that this might be more correctly known as a "brown blotch snail" or "Babylonian snail"... and apparently these are sold as or otherwise confused with a "true nassarius" which would be "more white in color.

A strange creature that spends most of its time about an inch below the surface... buried in the sand and typically with its "siphon" (long tube to detect the scent of food) protruding like a periscope. Not an uncommon choice for salt water tank hobbyists as part of a "cleanup crew". This little feller has been in my own tank for just about a year and seems to be still going strong.
