Crime Branch (1989) is a Malayalam dramatic crime thriller. Directed by K. S Gopalakrishnan, starring Captain Raju, Sukumaran, VijayaRaghavan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Rohini, Kalaranjini, Venu Nagavally, Bahadoor & others. Crime is Branch is the special investigation squad of Kerala Police. This movie is also in the name Crime Branch. Movie is about the social elements in which the poor and needy gets haunted by the rich. In this one it's precised to be as the Abkari people. As we have heard there are one of the strongest mafia in society. No will stand against them. We know many lives of innocent people had gone with uncontrollable drinking habits.

Liquor is the small poison of life. Most of crimes in world are the outcomes of liquor business. From the old ages, there are many struggles and fights are gone against this, but since this is the gigantic business, they use criminals to suppress these issues. This movie also says a part of this strugle. And it's out comes.In the movie Mukunthan is the freedom fighter Charukeshan is a crucket political leader.

Pushkaran is the guy we are talking here. He is a very rich fellow and a liquor business man. He got many bars in city.Shaji is the son of pushkaran , he a waste head. Babu is Mukunthan's neighbor. He is in love affair with Sunitha. Her brother Balachandran is a crime branch official. Alex & narendran are officials too. Leelamma is a nurse.

The Movie starts with a family song of Balachandran (Captain Raju) , wife and son. Balachandran is a crime branch officer. His sister name is Suvidha (Rohini) . Then the movie goes to some issues and clashes. Ambujam daughter of Mukunthan nair, comes from Temple after Prayer. the Sabu son of Pushkaran, the liquor shop owner. Mukunthan nair goes for fasting in front of Pushkaran's liquor shop. babu (Vijayaraghavan ) is the right hand of mukunthan Nair .

Later the police arrest them and takes to police station. Suvidha comes with lawyer and takes the bail of all except Mukunthan nair.Mukunthan nair admited to hospital and Pushkaran manages the duty nurse and poison him. Mukunthan Nair dies. But before he dies he tell this to his daughter. And Pushkaran gives Ambujam seductive and keeps her unconsciousness. But she escapes from there and with the help of babu & Suvidha she gives petition to re - enquire about her father's death. Balacahndran comes as the investigating officer. and the story gets more energy with him.

He takes the the sniffer dogs and unfolds the crime scene leaf by leaf. It's quite scientific if we have a close look. As the time passes. He finds out that Mukunathan Nair was poisoned. And he collects all the proofs against Pushakran and Charukshan. Both palns to trap him. One day before his submission of FIR. They murders Babu and sets the accused as Balachandran. Balachandran gets arrested and remanded.
