Supersonic Saturday Scene, LWT 30th October 1976

Saturday Scene (aka Supersonic Saturday Scene) ran from 1973-77 (on LWT only). It was hosted by Sally James and wasn't really a programme in the true sense of the word, it was an umbrella title for LWT's Saturday morning block of shows aimed at kids.

Sally presented what was really a sequence of extended continuity links, recorded on Fridays and played out between programmes like The Rovers, The Partridge Family, Junior Police 5 and various Gerry Anderson shows.

It was called Saturday Scene from launch (on 3rd November 1973) until 16th October 1976, when LWT made the pop music show Supersonic part of the Saturday morning block by moving it from its original slot on Saturday afternoons, and changed the block title to Supersonic Saturday Scene just to ram the point home.

Sally would introduce pop videos and be joined by guests from music and TV; this week it's Wellington Womble; three members of Guys'n'Dolls (the band where David Van Day and Thereza Bazar met before going on to form Dollar); two members of disco group 5000 Volts; and Mike Holoway from Flintlock talking about firework safety.

I have had to trim out the Sweet music video because it was causing the video to be blocked worldwide.
