The Indus Water Treaty, signed in 1960, is one of the world's most successful water-sharing agreements between India and Pakistan. But now, after more than 60 years, India has demanded changes to this historic treaty.

Under this agreement, Pakistan received nearly 80% of the Indus river system water, while India got only 20%. Today, Pakistan frequently objects to India's hydroelectric projects like Kishanganga and Ratle, raising tensions between the two nations.

If India exits or modifies the treaty, it could significantly impact Pakistan’s agriculture, which depends heavily on Indus waters.
