REEF SAFE FISH FOR THE MIXED REEF AQUARIUM (COMMUNITY FISH PART 2)
CHOOSING PERFECT FISH FOR THE MIXED REEF AQUARIUM (COMMUNITY FISH PART 2)
This video will be part 2 of a 2 part series on the community fish we chose for our mixed reef aquarium. If you haven’t already watched part 1, you’ll want to check it out.
We'll be discussing the Canary Wrasse, Blue Devil Damsel, Pajama Cardinalfish, Scopas Tang, Lyretail Anthias, Naso Tang and Blue Green Chromis.
each one of these top dwelling fish has their own specific role, preferred way of moving through the upper half of the aquarium and relationship with one another. They tend not to step on each other’s fins and compliment one another in the way that, the larger the fish is in our system, the less aggressive it tends to be. We were additionally able to mitigate bad chemistry between various species by only adding one of each specific type of fish and introducing them in a way where less aggressive fish were added first, followed by progressively more territorial species.
Though some of the upper tier fish in our tank serve a specific role, many of them have been added for the splash of color, interest factor they add to the display and their ability to generate a significant amount of nutrients, keeping Nitrates and Phosphates at optimal levels, in a system full of filter feeding coral, micro fauna and invertebrates.
We have a bunch of videos coming, so please do subscribe to Craft Aquatic if you’d like to see more like this one.
