The Message Looked Fine. The Hidden Characters Were the Problem This is one of those communication problems that teaches a really valuable habit. If the receiving device is not responding, do not just look at the text you think you are sending. Look at the raw transmission. Open a terminal, inspect the data, and see every character, including the ones that do not show up nicely in plain text. In a situation like this, the command itself may be correct, but the surrounding characters can still make the receiver reject it. That is what makes serial work so unforgiving. You are not just sending a sentence. You are sending a very specific packet in a very specific format. I always like when somebody proves the raw output before changing ten settings blindly.
