The Tribe that lives at Sea in the Philippines

The Sama People are tied to the sea. They have built their homes along the sea and make a living out of their circumstances as skilled fishermen, traders, and divers, while some have also settled inland. These previously dubbed “sea nomads” are considered experts of the water.

Get to know the Sama People as we take a peek at what a regular day looks like for them and how they celebrate special occasions atop their stilt houses in Basilan in the South of the Philippines.
