From the OUTSIDE lookin IN | An UBER app created a FRIENDSHIP

During a recent trip, I had the pleasure of meeting Philip – my UBER driver. Within the first few minutes of speaking with him, I asked if I could record our conversation to capture some of the valuable points he was making during our interaction.

Philip enthusiastically agreed and we just talked. We covered everything from Philip’s family, education, where he came from, and what the United States looks like to him. We talked about the perception of law enforcement both here and in foreign countries, the “American Dream”, and how a simple UBER app on our phone brought two people together into friendship.

It is encounters like these that I would never be able to learn in the same way when reading between the covers of a book or hearing a lecture behind the walls of a school. Like Philip said, the real learning takes place through conversation.
