Chapter AAC, standard 7, objective element - a (Commitment) : The laboratory quality assurance programme is implemented.*

Interpretation: The organisation has a documented quality assurance programme to ensure accuracy and precision. Programme shall also include point of care testing (POCT). The written guidance covers pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic phases of the testing cycle. The programme includes test standardisation internal quality control and external quality assurance, or inter laboratory testing (as applicable). There is a mechanism to obtain feedback from various stakeholders to evaluate the laboratory services at least once a year.

The programme addresses verification and/or validation of test methods.

The programme includes periodic calibration and maintenance of equipment.

The programme includes the documentation of corrective and preventive actions whenever deviations are observed.

A good reference is ISO 15189:2022 and NABL 112.
