MetaHuman Performance Capture Workflow - Part 13: Retargeting to a Proxy Rig in MotionBuilder

In this tutorial, we retarget the optical motion capture data onto our proxy rig inside MotionBuilder!

Part 13 of the MetaHuman Performance Capture Workflow covers:

Merging your marker set with your proxy rig

Creating a character definition and assigning retargeting sources

The secret clavicle adjustment to prevent collapsed shoulders in Maya

Verifying successful retargeting and troubleshooting minor issues

Plotting (baking) animation at 24fps for export back to Maya

Important:
If you don't fix the clavicle rotation before baking, your MetaHuman in Maya will look like it's had a rough day at the chiropractor.
You’ve been warned.

✅ Pro Tip: Always save new versions before retargeting and before baking.
