The word 'robot' was first used in English to denote a fictional humanoid in a 1920 Czech-language play R.U.R. by Karel Čapek. It premiered on 25 January 1921 and introduced the word "robot" to the English language and to science fiction as a whole. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.U.R.
The term 'Robotics' was coined by Russian-born American science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov and it was used for the first time in his short story called 'Liar!' which was published in 1941.
