Town cut off, motorists stranded as snow blankets parts of inland Australia | ABC News

A town has been cut off by snow and SES crews have received over 1,000 calls for help, as parts of south-east Australia continue to shiver through a polar blast which is bringing extreme wind gusts and plunging temperatures.

Forecasters warn the winter storm is likely to persist until tomorrow, and a number of severe weather warnings remain in place.

Gippsland is expected to bear the brunt of Victoria's dangerous winds today.
