"We have pinpointed the location for many of these attacks in a village called Septiya. This morning we went there to raid eleven houses and to detain the individuals that are suspected in conducting these mortar attacks. We have detained an estimate of about forty people today, ten of which we believe are associated with the mortar attacks. We detain them for questioning in relation to those attacks, most recent attack was two morning ago. One of our trucks was destroyed, four of our housing containers were destroyed.".

STORYLINE:

Units of the U.S. 4th Infantry Division, based in the city of Baquoba, some 60 kilometers northeast of Baghdad, carried out a major operation in the early hours of Tuesday, to find militants involved in attacks on coalition forces over the past few months.

The 588th Engineer Battalion of the 2nd Brigade raided 11 houses in the village of Septiya, located one kilometer off Baquoba, and arrested about forty individuals, some of whom are believed to have taken part in recent mortar attacks on the nearby U.S. logistics base.
