Twitter hypocritically campaigns for free speech after banning Donald Trump
Twitter has copped online backlash after it ironically posted a tweet about censoring speech and basic human rights in an election just days after banning President Trump’s account.
The tech giant posted a tweet to its public policy account saying: “Ahead of the Ugandan election, we're hearing reports that internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps. We strongly condemn internet shutdowns- they are hugely harmful and violate basic human rights and the principles of #openinternet."
Commenters were quick to slam Twitter with one user writing, “are there no mirrors at Twitter?”
