The Phoenix Suns returned from the NBA All-Star break and lost their fourth straight game to the San Antonio Spurs, 120-109, on Thursday. The Spurs beat the Suns without their All-Star big Victor Wembanyama (right shoulder/blood clot), who is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Kevin Durant scored 22 points and Royce O'Neale had his career-high 27 for the struggling Suns. They're now three games under .500, their worst record this season, and have lost seven of eight games since February began. Devin Booker showed some rust, hitting just 4-of-14 for 17 points and eight assists. Bradley Beal contributed a solid 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists off the bench.

The Spurs' top performers were De'Aaron Fox (26 points) and former Suns All-Star Chris Paul (13 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, two steals). Four of their bench players scored in double figures compared to two Suns' reserves who did the same.

The Suns had 18 turnovers and gave up 25 points off them, compared to the Spurs' 11 leading to seven points. The Spurs outscored the Suns 17-9 in fast-break points and 50-36 in the paint, as Phoenix's defense continued to struggle.

The Suns had a slow start in the first quarter and trailed by double digits most of the game. They had a brief surge in the second, and went on a 17-4 run capped off by Durant’s third trey to trim the lead to two at 8:09 left to play. But as their defense continued to lag, Fox took over in the clutch and scored 11 after the 2:38 mark.
