Government's Murray-Darling Basin plan proposal criticised
Shadow Fisheries, Forestry and Environment Minister Jonathon Duniam has voiced concerns over the federal government’s plan to buy back more water out of the Murray-Darling Basin.
Mr Duniam said the government plans will have a massive flow of implications for the country.
“The approach being taken by the government and the fact that they're looking at removing this social and economic neutrality impact test is quite concerning because it says to us that some of the approaches they're going to take are going to have an impact,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Now, if you take the water out of the Top End, you're going to find that it's going to be impossible to grow the things that we need and to support those regional communities.
“That’s going to have massive flow on implications.”
