Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra, played by Pierre-Laurent Aimard & Tamara Stefanovich

W. A. Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in E-flat major, KV 365, is among the most artful and ambitious works of this genre. In this recording from the 2008 Mozart Weel in Salzburg, the concerto is performed by Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich, two of the leading contemporary interpreters of Mozart’s music. Jonathan Nott conducts the Camerata Salzburg.

Pierre-Laurent Aimard won the chamber music prize of the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 16, in 1973. That same year, he won first prize at the international Olivier Messiaen Competition. In 1977, at the invitation of Pierre Boulez, he became a founding member of the Ensemble InterContemporain. In addition to his work with contemporary music, Aimard recorded the five Beethoven piano concertos with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, at the invitation of Harnoncourt. Tamara Stefanovich enjoys a busy performance schedule including recitals, music festivals and concert performances with some of the world’s leading symphonic and chamber orchestras. The two pianists also collaborated with Pierre Boulez and the London Symphony Orchestra on a Grammy-nominated and highly acclaimed recording of Bartók’s Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion and Orchestra.
