New Daniel Smith Watercolors {& Winsor & Newton Caput Mortuum}

Hi Lovelies! The 5 new Daniel Smith watercolors I got are:

Lunar Violet
Raw Umber Violet

Duochrome Lapis Sunlight

The other color is Winsor & Newton Caput Mortuum which is a great alternative to my favorite Porphyry Violet Ochre from Colors of the Iron Range. Porphyry Violet Ochre, Raw Umber Violet or Caput Mortuum can be used interchangeably, you don’t need them all, just one version. I find this type of color indispensable for mixing shadows & Smokey colors.

I love to mix the Porphyry Violet, Raw Umber Violet or Caput Mortuum with hematite or Artgraf or Lunar Violet to create a sort of Shadow Violet or Violet hematite.

I also love to mix them with Shell Pink or White, I really love the Grumbacher Titanium White{ it’s the creamiest white I’ve ever tried} & Holbein Shell Pink.

Also, the Walmart Watercolor paper I mention is the Canson XL, really any spare watercolor paper you have & book rings will do to make a swatch book.

You can get the Turner Iridescent colors on sale at Jerry’s Artarama at the minute, which are really similar to Daniel Smith ones, you just get less in the tube.. .
