A deputy sheriff responded to a domestic disturbance call where a 19-year-old deaf teenager was seen calmly walking away. The sheriff tried to talk to him, but as the teenager is deaf, he continued to walk away as if nothing was going on. This caused the sheriff to case the boy, resulting in a lost cochlear implant.

The sheriff said he had no idea the boy was deaf and eventually the missing cochlear implant was replaced.

This is yet another incident in a group of many. Police brutality against deaf people is a serious problem and one that needs to be tackled properly.
