Caroline, a doctor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, received her COVID-19 booster during pregnancy. Pregnant women, even those who are healthy, are at risk of developing complications if they are infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Receiving the coronavirus vaccine during pregnancy not only helps protect mom, but also the baby. Likewise, antibodies in breast milk can also help protect the baby, so breastfeeding women can also safely be vaccinated.
