Historic Racer Julian Grimwade Tragically Dies at Donington Park | A Dark Day for UK Motorsport

Legendary vintage racer Julian Grimwade has sadly passed away following a tragic crash during a Vintage Sports-Car Club event at Donington Park. Competing in the Mephistopheles & Lanchester Trophy race in his iconic Oakland Romano Special, Grimwade lost his life in a devastating first-lap incident.

This heartbreaking event marks the second motorsport fatality in the UK on the same day, following the loss of rally co-driver Dai Roberts in Scotland. A respected and passionate figure in the historic racing world, Julian was a regular at Goodwood and a familiar face at numerous hillclimbs and vintage competitions.
