Wedding Veil Beading Guide

**Transcript**

Hello lovely brides! Welcome back to The Wedding Veil Shop. It's Lynsey here again.
Today's little video is about beads.

I've just had a lady on the phone and I've been trying to explain the difference between our crystals and diamantes. It's so difficult, and I was thinking: wouldn't it be nice if I could just show her? You know, even though she's far away and I'm talking to her on the phone, if I could direct her to a video so she can see them...

So that's the inspiration behind recording this little video.

Obviously, we do already have a written guide and some pictures, but I feel like you can't really see the true sparkle in a still image. It needs to move so that you can see it twinkling in the light.

And so this guide is going to be especially helpful for brides who are building their own veil on our Custom Veil Designer, which, hopefully you've already spotted out there. It's the section of our website where you can "build your own veil". Starting from the ground up if you know exactly what you want, or you can just tweak one of our existing designs.

When you come to the beading section in the Custom Veil Designer it is optional, of course; you can choose to skip it. You can just click on the picture of plain tulle and have no beads. That's fine! We don't judge. :)

But if you do want a little bit of sparkle, we just want to show you that there's three main bead types, with a variant.

So there are crystals, diamantes and pearls and the diamantes and the crystals have an 'AB' variant. 'AB' stands for aurora borealis so it's that kind of rainbow-y hued effect... It's quite subtle so they are still clear, but they when you turn them in the light they have a rainbow-y effect.

Hopefully you can see that in these clips that are coming up.

Okay. So starting with... let's just start with the easiest one: the pearl. This is a Swarovski white pearl. So with Swarovski the white isn't true white — it is kind of an off-white "pearl" colour. We use the little dainty 3mm size so they're quite subtle. Here you can see it on a real veil. This is kind of a a scattered effect, and it's just a classic look isn't it, the pearl? It's not really sparkly; it's more like a
sheen, a lustre. But it's very classic, very pretty.

On the other extreme... let's go straight to probably the most popular bead that we do which is the clear diamante. So these guys are little flat-backed — they are still kind of a crystal but they're flat-backed and inside that flat back is kind of like a foiled mirror effect. So they do look quite silvery and they're only 3mm again so quite dainty. But they pack a lot of sort of sparkly punch, if you know what I mean? And they do really twinkle. The most sparkly bead option there.

And then the variant of that is the 'AB' variety. So, again, it is kind of a little bit silvery in the base but when you turn it you can see pink, blue... sometimes like an orangey colour pops up. So, you know, if you like those kinds of colours or you want to incorporate more colourful beads in your veil, it is an option. It's not as popular as the clear variety, but it's there as an option if you want it.

Next up, the largest bead that we have and probably second in popularity, is the clear crystal. So these are a little bit bigger. We went for the 4mm size in this as our sort of standard size. Obviously, if you know anything about beads you know they come in all kinds of different sizes so you could have bigger or know they come in all kinds of different sizes so you could have bigger or choose on the Custom Veil Designer for this video. So these are clear, sort of double-ended bicone beads. And again, they are sparkly but it is a more subtle sparkle than the diamante. Less glitzy, it's more kind of twinkly.

And then, as with the diamantes, you have the 'AB' variant. It's a little bit more subtle, I think, on
the crystal. It's only sort of added to one of the coned sides. And so, one side's still clear and then one size has this 'AB' rainbow effect that catches the light. Again, it's really subtle, it's barely even picking it up on the video, but it's there and it is pretty.

And then the last thing I just wanted to show you quickly is that you can mix them — you don't just have to pick one! So if you're stuck between a couple of options that you like you can mix them together. Here we've got an example of our crystal and pearl together. Which is on the bottom of our Larissa veil.

And here we have the Kendra veil. A diamante and pearl mixture in "falling stars". And that's really pretty as well.

So that's it. Short and sweet. I hope this helps you when you're choosing what sort of sparkle embellishments you want to add to your veil!
