Full-time infantry relocate from South Australia to Queensland

Australian Army infantry troops, tanks and other vehicles will relocate from South Australia to Queensland.

Full-time personnel and their families will be moving to Townsville by 2025.

The change is part of the Defence Strategic Review which recommends focusing more on specialised combat brigades and basing them around the Pacific.

The review found the army is not fit for purpose under its current restructure.

A new 'fires brigade' will be established in South Australia which will operate missile capabilities.
